A bit of history..
Dick has run pubs in the Rye area for over 22 years. He was at the Ypres Castle in Rye for 16 years, from 1984 to 2000, establishing its reputation for live Blues by holding gigs regularly every Sunday night, often with additional live performances in the week. Dick was also the main chef at the Ypres for the majority of his time there, building it from a drinker's pub into a good quality family food pub, known for its quality, consistancy and good atmosphere.
The Plough
The Plough is over 400 years old. It was closed, however, for 4 years between 2000 and 2004. In 2004, the pub was bought by Dick and two partners who had been friends for many years. It reopened in April that year, after a careful but extensive refurbishment that retained many of the building's original features and included installation of an entirely new kitchen.
Behind the bar or seated for lunch or dinner, you will be greeted and served by Katrina, Sasha or Sarah.
The Plough has a car park on the right, with capacity for up to 30 cars. When the car park is full, there is parking space along the road.
